Cartis Group’s President, Shannon Carter, was named Ad Man of the Year at the Austin Advertising Federation’s annual Big Wig Awards on June 1, 2005. The Big Wig Awards honor leaders in the advertising industry who make outstanding contributions in their respective trades, the advertising profession and the community at-large.
“I’m truly honored to be recognized by my peers for doing something that I am so passionate about,” said Carter. “This award belongs to everyone on the Cartis Group team. I am very lucky to work with such dedicated and brilliant people.”
The 230+ members of the Austin Advertising Federation vote on the award based on contributions and leadership in the advertising community within the past year. More than 200 people were in attendance as singer/songwriter Sara Hickman hosted the event and helped place Carter among Austin’s leading Ad Men like past recipients Steve Gurasich of GSD&M, Tom Sicola of Sicola Martin, Bryan Jessee of McGarrah Jessee and Kevin Tuerff of Tuerff-Davis Enviormedia.
Carter started Cartis Group 13 years ago on his kitchen table. Today the agency is nationally recognized serving clients such as Balfour, SigmaTel, Silicon Laboratories, Whole Foods Market and USAA.
