Whole Foods Market is one of the world’s strongest and fastest growing brands. Their challenge stems from a combination of their success and business model. Whole Foods Market operates a centralized brand but encourages their individual stores to add local flavor to their food, décor and marketing — strengthening the satellite brands but potentially weakening the central brand.
We worked very closely with Whole Foods Market’s national and regional marketing departments in developing campaigns that can be customized by their various regional and local marketing departments. We also worked with several of the regional marketing directors to create campaigns that will extend the central brand and have a local flavor — like haikus to food in Santa Fe, odes to bats and music in Austin, and ragin’ Cajun sayin’s for Louisiana.
We developed everything from the typical (print ads, fleet graphics, annual reports) to the absurd (haikus to bats and shrimp), all while supporting the central brand and allowing the various regions the autonomy to add their local flavor.
